Of all the ways that hypnosis has been shown to improve the lives of subjects, stress and anxiety top the list. Stress and anxiety are normal reactions to external environments that require more from us than is normal in a safe and peaceful moment. These reactions are there to keep you safe. When we don’t have an opportunity to overcome these external stimuli in a healthy way, our brain develops neural connections as it learns to “keep us safe”. These neural connections create chemical reactions in our bodies via the release of hormones and neurotransmitters into our bloodstream. And like any chemical we consume consistently (think sugar) we get hooked on it, making it difficult to overcome through will-power alone.
